Privacy Policy

Every Plant Story is made by Gabriella Plants, a family-owned greenhouse in Central Florida. It helps you keep track of the plants you bring home from us. This page explains, in plain English, what information the app keeps, why, and how you can delete it.

The short version

• Your photos never leave your phone. We can't see them.
• Your plants, care logs and notes are saved to your collection so they're there when you come back.
• We don't sell your information, show ads, or use tracking for advertising.
• You can delete everything at any time from Your Account.

What we keep

• Your plants: the names you give them, their Story Stake codes, and any details you type in yourself.
• Your plants' timelines: waterings, feedings (including the fertilizer and the date you chose to feed again), repots, notes, and the fact that a photo was taken on a given day (not the photo itself).
• An account: a random identifier created the first time you use the app. If you choose to save your collection, we also keep your email address, which we use only to send your sign-in codes.
• Gift links: if you give a plant away, we keep the link until it's used or expires after 7 days.
• A scrambled network address for 24 hours: when you look up a Story Stake we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address for one day, only to stop the lookup from being misused. We can't turn it back into your address.

Your photos

Photos you add are made smaller on your phone and saved only on that phone, inside this app or website. They are never uploaded to us. That keeps them private, but it also means they don't move to a new phone, and clearing your browser's data (or deleting the app) deletes them. To keep a photo for good, open it and tap “Save a copy to my photos”. Making a photo smaller also removes the location information phones add to pictures.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your location, contacts, or photos, and we don't use advertising or cross-site tracking.

How we use it

Only to run the app: showing your collection, signing you in, moving a gifted plant to its new owner, and keeping the app safe from misuse. We don't use it for marketing unless you separately ask to hear from us.

Who helps us run it

• Supabase stores your collection and handles sign-in.
• Vercel hosts the website.
• An email delivery service sends your sign-in codes.

When you look up a Story Stake, the app reads that plant's public page on storystakes.com, and it may show a product photo from gabriellaplants.com. Neither receives any of your information.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your collection until you delete it. To delete your account and everything in it, go to Your Account and tap “Delete my account and data”. Your plants, care logs, notes and gift links are removed straight away, and the photos on that phone are deleted too. Copies can remain in our service providers' routine backups for a short time (typically up to 7 days) before they're cleared. A collection that was never saved with an email belongs to the phone or browser it was made on; if you lose access to it, contact us and we'll help.

Children

Every Plant Story is meant for adults and families, not for children under 13 on their own, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change how the app handles your information, we'll update this page and the date above.
